We offer intensive one-day courses on a variety of A level texts.

Led by subject specialists with extensive experience, each course will combine detailed exploration of the text with a thorough understanding of exam technique.

Combining intellectual enthusiasm with careful awareness of assessment objectives, our tutors will guide students towards an enhanced understanding of their set texts and to clear strategies for success.

Courses focus on enabling students to analyse the effects of language and form and to write about their texts using relevant literary terminology. The ability to structure an argument and to respond to exam questions is also tackled, as is the importance of incorporating relevant critical and contextual material.

Students are encouraged to evaluate differing interpretations of a text, and to gain confidence in articulating their own views within essays. Students will further benefit from information on how to revise independently and where to access supplementary critical resources.

Texts we cover include, but are not restricted to:

  • Othello

  • The Duchess of Malfi

  • Hamlet

  • Measure for Measure

  • The Winter's Tale

  • The Great Gatsby

  • Wuthering Heights

  • The Handmaid's Tale
