GCSE and IGCSE Physics

Boards

Edexcel, AQA, OCR, CIE, WJEC

This one day course is suitable for all students studying Triple Science who have been entered into the single science Physics examination.

It is not suitable for students studying Combined Science: Trilogy. Please visit the Combined Science: Trilogy page to find more details regarding this course.

We will clarify areas of a subject that are of most concern to individual students based on a detailed analysis of their requirements before the course. This will ensure that our tutors design a bespoke programme and cover relevant examination questions and techniques during the course.

Our one day course will cover the following specific areas:

  • Energy: changes in energy stores, work, power and efficiency, energy and heating, energy demands

  • Electricity: electric circuits, mains electricity, static electricity

  • Magnetism and electromagnetism: magnetic fields, electromagnets, electromagnetic induction, transformers

  • Particle model of matter: density of materials, temperature changes and energy, particles in gasses

  • Atomic structure and radioactivity: models of the atom, isotopes and ions, radioactive decay, uses and dangers of radiation, nuclear fission and fusion

  • Motion and forces: scalar and vector qualities, contact and non-contact forces, gravity, forces and elasticity, levers and gears, pressure in fluids, describing motion, motion of vehicles, forces, forces and elasticity, pressure in fluids, acceleration and Newton’s Laws, momentum

  • Light and the EM spectrum: the behaviour of light, lenses, electromagnetic waves

  • Waves – properties of waves, transverse and longitudinal waves, reflection and refraction, sound and ultrasound, lenses, black body radiation

  • Space physics: the solar system, the life cycle of a star, the expanding universe
